Punchbowl Cake

Crumble cooked and cooled cake. Layer half of cake crumbs in clear punch bowl. Top with one half of pudding one half of pie filling, one half of pineapple, 1 banana, 1 (8 oz.) Cool Whip. May put coconut and pecans also, saving enough for garnish. Then repeat layers with remaining halves. Refrigerate. Serves 24.

1,000 Square Dance Nut Cake

Follow the directions for mixing cake. Pour into a well greasedand lightly floured 8 x 8 x 2 pan. Bake 350 40-50 minutes. Cool follow the directions for putting together. Best of class senior contest--1950 Pillsbury Cookoff. This is a simple cake that looks fancy. All you do is cut the nut loaf cake into four squares. You frost with white frosting (2) and the other 2 with chocolate--Then arrange them checkerboard fashion and sprinkle nuts over the top. It is a quick mix variation.

Carrot Cake With Cream Cheese Frosting

Cake: Mix oil and sugar in large bowl with an electric mixer. Add eggs and beat until thick and lemon colored. Sift together flour, cinnamon, soda, and salt 3 times. Add to creamed mixture and mix well. Stir in carrots and nuts. Pour into greased and floured 9 x 11inch pan. Bake 350 F, 30-40 minutes until toothpick inserted comes out clean. Cool. Frost.
Frosting: Cream together cream cheese and butter. Gradually add powdered sugar; mix until well blended. Add vanilla and beat until smooth.

Foot in the Fire Chocolate Cake

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Sift flour and sugar, set aside. In a saucepan, bring the margarine, cocoa and water to a boil; remove from heat. In a large bowl, mix all remaining cake ingredients. Add the flour mixture and cocoa mixture, stirring well. Bake in a greased and floured 9x13\" pan for 20 to 30 min. Check for doneness with a clean toothpick. Ten minutes into the baking of the cake, prepare the frosting. Place the margarine, cocoa, and milk in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Remove from the heat and add the remaining ingredients. Beat until smooth. FROST THE CAKE AS SOON AS IT COME OUT OF THE OVEN. Let it cool a little before cutting, if you can\'t possible hold out!. This cake is so good, you\'d eat it with one foot in the fire if you had to.

Guardian Angel Torte

Combine pudding mix and milk; cok until mixture boils. Cool slightly; stir in sour cream. Chill thoroughly. Split cake in 2 or 3 layers. Spread chocolate mixture between layers. Cover top and sides of cake with whipped cream, sweetened with condectioners sugar. Garnish with shaved chocolate. Serves 10.

Irish Coffee Cake

*Or grated chocolate. **This is a concentrated, liquid coffee easily found in Ireland, but probably not in the States. I would dissolve 2 T of a good instant coffee (Taster's Choice or something similar) in an equivalent amount of water, and use that. -- Grease and flour an 8-inch cake pan (preferably a springform cheesecake pan). Preheat oven to 350F. Cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy, then beat in the eggs, adding a little flour and beating well after each addition. Stir in the coffee essence, and mix thoroughly. Turn the mixture into the prepared pan, and bake for 35-40 minutes until springy to the touch. Turn out and cool on a wire rack. . To make the Irish coffee syrup, put the coffee and sugar into a small pan and bring up to the boil, stirring to dissolve the sugar. Then boil for 1 minute. Remove from heat and add the whiskey. . Wash and dry the pan the cake was baked in, and return the cooled cake to it: then pour the hot coffee syrup all over it. Leave in a cool place for several hours, then turn out. Whip the cream until it's thick, sweeten slightly with confectioners' sugar, and add whiskey to taste. Spread the cake with the whipped cream and chill for an hour before sprinkling with chopped nuts or grated chocolate.

Spiced Up Apple Cider Pound

Soften margarine and shortening. Add sugar gradually, beating for 1- minutes. Add egg one at a time, beating 1 1/2 minutes after each egg. Sift together all the dry ingredients and add alternately with the cider and vanilla to the shortening mixture. Blend well and bake in a 10" tube pan at 235~F for 1 1/2 hours. CARAMEL GLAZE: Bring ingredients to a rolling boil over low heat and boil for 10 minutes, stirring occasionaly.

Death By Chocolate Cake

Combine first 3 ingredients in top of a double boiler; bring water to a boil. Reduce heat to low; cook, stirring occasionally, until chocolate and butter melt. Remove chocolate mixture from heat, and set aside.
Beat eggs, sugar and vanilla at medium-high speed with an electric mixer until slightly thickened (about 1 1/2 minutes). Add chocolate mixture, and beat at medium speed until blended. Combine flour and next 3 ingredients; gradually add to chocolate mix
Remove from refrigerator. Using a serrated knife, cut brownie in half horizontally. Place top half, cut side down, in a 9-inch springform pan. Pour 1 1/2 cups Chocolate Ganache over layer.
Using a serrated knife, carefully trim Cocoa Meringue to fit inside of pan. Place meringue, top side up, on Chocolate Ganache, pressing down gently. Place pan on a cookie sheet.
Spread Mocha Mousse evenly over meringue, and top with remaining brownie layer, cut side down. Cover brownie and refrigerate 1 hour or place in freezer 30 minutes. Remove sides of pan, and pour remaining Chocolate Ganache over top, spreading evenly on
Place a star-shaped tip with a large opening in a decorating bag, and fill bag with Chocolate Mousse, pipe stars on top of cake. Cover and chill 4 to 8 hour.
To serve, heat a serrated knife blade under hot running water, and dry with a towel before sliding. Pour 2 to 4 tablespoons Mocha Rum Sauce on a plate, and arrange cake slide in center. Serve immediately,

Hershey s Old Fashioned Chocolate Cake

FOR CAKE: Heat oven to 350. Grease and flour two 9-inch round baking pans or one 13x9x2-inch baking pan. In large mixer bowl, combine butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla. Beat on high speed 3 minutes. Combine flour, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder and salt; add alternately with water to butter mixture. Blend just til combined. Pour into prepared pans. Bake 30 to 35 minutes or til wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes; remove from pans. Cool completely; frost. Serves 8 to 10.
FROSTING: In small microwave-safe bowl, place chocolate chips. Microwave on high 1 1/2 minutes; stir. Microwave on high additional 30 seconds or til melted and smooth when stirred. (Chips may also be melted in pan over warm water). Gradually add powdered sugar and evaporated milk, beating til smooth. About 2 1/2 cups frosting.

1/2 c butter CAKE: Cream butter until fluffy. Add sugar and cream well. Add eggs one at a time. Beat well. Sift flour, baking powder and salt together. Add alternating with milk ending with flour. Beat on low speed. Add vanilla. Pour into greased, floured pans. Makes three layers. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes. Test for doneness.
CHOCOLATE ICING: Melt butter and chocolate in double boiler. Remove from heat. Blend sugar, egg, salt and vanilla into chocolate mixture. Beat until icing is creamy. Double for threelayers.

1 Cotton Cake

Cream butter with 1/3 cup sugar. Beat egg whites stiffly and add 1/2 cup sugar. Put aside. Beat egg yolks with remaining sugar and add to first mixture, heating well. Mix in lightly the egg whites. Flavor with vanilla. Pour in cake pans, well grease, and cook from 25 to 30 minutes in oven 375 F. Spread marshmallow between layers and cover cake with Foaming Icing.

White Angel Food Cake

Prodigy In bowl sift together flour, 3/4 cup sugar and salt. Re-sift 3 times. Set aside. Beat egg whites until foamy. Add cream of tartar and continue to beat until soft peaks form. Gradually beat in remaining 1 cup sugar, 2 tablespoons at time, until mixture holds stiff peaks. Fold in vanilla and almond extracts. Add 1/4 flour mixture at time, folding in gently with rubber spatula. Gently spoon batter into ungreased 10-inch angel food cake pan. Cut through center of batter 2 or 3 times with spatula to remove large air bubbles. Bake at 350 degrees 40 to 45 minutes or until top springs back when touched with finger and wood pick inserted near center comes out clean. Invert pan over bottle or inverted funnel and let stand until thoroughly cool. When cool, loosen sides and center with metal spatula and turn out onto platter. Makes 10 to 12 servings.

14 Carrots Cake Dream

Sift all dry ingredients together.
Add sugar and oil to flour mixture.
Add eggs, pineapple, nuts and carrots, mix well.
Bake in bundt pan (or large cake pan) at 350 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes.
Cool a few minutes in pan, turn out on wire racks.

7 Layer Bars

This makes a commercial half sheet pan. Cut it in half and use a 9 x 13. Melt butter in pan, cover w/graham crumbs. Sprinkle other ingreds. over evenly, ending with the condensed milk. (Darn I forgot to write down baking instructions! Its a 350 oven, I believe for 10 min., turn then 15-20 minutes. We use a convection, so you may not have to turn them. Till they're done, which doesn't take long. These are great for picnics, as they don't require refrigeration.

7 Layer Brownie Ice Cream Cake

Trace an 8 inch circle on a piece of waxed paper, using a cake pan as a guide. Place on a stack of 6 more pieces waxed paper. Using the traced circle as a guide, cut through all pieces of paper, giving you 7 waxed paper rounds. Heat oven to 375 F. Have 2 cookie sheets and an 8 inch springform pan ready. Brownie Layers: Whisk cocoa, water, egg and vanilla in a small bowl until blended and smooth. In a large bowl with electric mixer, beat butter and sugar about 3 minutes until pale and fluffy. Beat in cocoa mixture (batter may look curdled) With mixer on low speed, gradually add flour until well blended (batter will be very stiff). Spread the 7 rounds of waxed paper out on countertop. Drop a levely 1/3 cup batter in center of each round. Divide remaining 1/3 cup batter between rounds (about 2 teaspoons each). Moisten a cookie sheet with water. Place 2 waxed paper rounds on sheet (the water will stop them from slipping). Spread batter almost to edges of rounds. Bake 8 minutes or until surface looks dry and set but is slightly springy to the touch. (While first batch bakes, spread out batter for next 2 layers.) Cool baked layers on cookie sheet on wire rack 3 minutes. Put layers on waxed paper on a wire rack. Let cool completely. Bake and cool remaining layers. Meanwhile,line springform pan with palstic wrap, letting enough wrap extend about sides of pan to cover top when filled. Peel waxed paper off cooled brownie layers. Place 1 layer in bottom of pan. Spread evenly with 1 cup ice cream. Top with another brownie layer, then another cup ice cream. Repeat with 5 more brownie layer and hte ice cream, ending with a brownie layer on top. Fold plastic wrap over top and freeze at least 8 hours or wrap airtight and freeze up to 1 month. To serve; Remove sides of pan and peel palstic wrap down from sides. Lift cake off plastic wrap onto serving plate. 332 calories, 16 f fat Exchanges: 2 starch, 1 fruit, 3 fat.
