I have always been fond of highly seasoned, rich dishes.… As for women, I have always found the odour of my beloved ones exceeding pleasant. "What depraved tastes," some people will exclaim, "Are you not ashamed to confess such inclinations without blushing!" Dear critics, you make me laugh heartily.

Woman: My king is at table, my own perfume fills the air; my lover has the scent of myrrh, he shall lie all night on my breasts …
Man: Thy breasts are as twin young roses, that thrive among the lilies. Until daybreak and the shadows flee, I will visit the mountain of myrrh, the hill of frankincense. Thou has ravished my heart, my sweetheart, my bride, how much better is thy love than mine. And the smell of thy person than all the spices.

A woman's cassolette is the most powerful weapon in her sexual armoury-her own natural perfume. Each individual has her own scent-an aroma which is unique to her. It is a combination of the different scents of her hair, genitals, armpits, and indeed every part of her skin. It is never offensive unless she does not wash regularly or is unwell.
Some men have a more developed olfactory sense than others, but all of them consciously or unconsciously respond to what the French have termed a woman's cassolette.
If a woman's natural perfume was indeed a weapon it would have one hundred per cent accuracy over a very long range. It is also infinitely more sophisticated than the weapons of war since it will only strike those who need to be struck-ie. sexually 'mature' heterosexual males.

The sexual memory of which I was drenched during that season in Brooklyn, whenever I forlornly unloosed the flood gates, was of uneasy darkness, sweat, reproving murmurs, bands and sinews of obdurate elastic, lacerating little hooks and snaps, whispered prohibitions, straining erections, stuck zippers and a warm miasmal odour of secretions from inflamed and obstructed glands.

monopolised the warm bed.

The breasts like lilies, 'til other leaves be shared,
Her nipples like young blossomed jessamine,
Such fragrant flowers to give most odours smell,
But her sweet odour did them all excel.
